Land Protection Transaction Grants Application Due Date: October 4, 2024

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership (GBRPP) is offering grants to assist with land transaction costs for the permanent land protection projects in the Great Bay watershed area of New Hampshire. The Fall 2024 grant round will accept applications for both the Grant Program 1 Prospective Project Appraisals and Grant Program 2 Completed Project Transaction Costs.

The Great Bay Partnership awards $42,205 for Seven Stewardship Projects

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announced the Spring 2024 recipients of Stewardship Grant Program awards. Seven grant recipients received a total of $42,205 in grant funds to support stewardship projects on over 1,320 acres of conservation land in the Great Bay Watershed. Grant recipients provided over $29,700 in matching funds.

The Stewardship Grant Program assists with stewardship costs for permanently protected conservation lands in the Great Bay Watershed of New Hampshire. Stewardship activities supported by this grant program include habitat management, existing trail maintenance, property and project planning, and natural resource inventory projects. Eligible applicants include the fee owner or conservation easement
holder of an eligible conservation property, including land trusts, municipalities and units of governments.

The Spring 2024 grant recipients include:

  • Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, $10,000, Habitat Management, Deerfield, NH
  • Town of Durham, $5,450, Trail Maintenance, Durham, NH
  • Moose Mountains Regional Greenways, $7,125, Habitat Management, Milton, NH
  • Town of Newmarket, $3,520, Trail Maintenance, Newmarket, NH
  • City of Portsmouth, $10,000, Habitat Management, Portsmouth, NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $4,000, Trail Maintenance, Epping, NH
  • The Nature Conservancy, $2,110, Trail Maintenance, Durham and Newmarket, NH

Funding for the Stewardship Grant program is provided by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Great Bay 2030 Initiative. The Nature Conservancy serves as the fiscal agent for the Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership grant program.

The Great Bay Partnership awards $75,400 for land transaction costs to seven conservation projects

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announced the Spring 2024 recipients of Land Protection Transaction Grant Program grant awards. A total of $75,400 in grant funds will support conservation work on over 1,100 acres of land. The seven conservation projects provide over $154,000 in matching funds.

The Land Protection Transaction Grant Program assists land trusts, conservation organizations and municipal governments in the Coastal watershed of New Hampshire with land protection transaction costs including appraisal, land survey, legal, title, recording fees, easement baseline documentation and environmental assessments. The eligible properties are permanently protected through donation or acquisition of land and conservation easements.

The Spring 2024 grant awards include conservation properties representing a diversity of natural resources including woodlands, agricultural lands and open fields, important wildlife habitats and water resources. The Spring 2024 Land Protection Transaction Grant Recipients:

  • Town of Hampton, $12,100, Conservation Project Grant, Hampton, NH
  • Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, $25,000, Conservation Project, Northwood, NH
  • Moose Mountains Regional Greenways, $5,000, Conservation Project, Milton, NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $3,500, Appraisal Grant, Barrington, NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $3,500, Appraisal Grant, Durham, NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $10,800, Conservation Project Grant, Brentwood, NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $15,000, Conservation Project Grant, Kensington, Exeter and East Kingston, NH

A total of $39,298 in grant funds will support conservation work on over 140 acres of land. The two conservation projects provide over $38,980 in matching funds.
