Land Protection Transaction Grant Program: Spring 2026

The Land Protection Transaction Grant Program provides grants to assist with land transaction costs for the permanent land protection projects in the Great Bay watershed area of New Hampshire. Two types of grants are available: Grant Program 1 Prospective Project Appraisals and Grant Program 2 Completed Project Transaction Costs.

The next Land Protection Transaction Grant Program grant round is planned for March-April 2026.

The Great Bay Partnership awards $33,123 for five Stewardship Projects

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announced the Fall 2024 recipients of Stewardship Grant
Program awards. Five grant recipients received a total of $33,123 in grant funds to support stewardship
projects on 778 acres of conservation land in the Great Bay Watershed. Grant recipients provided over
$64,000 in matching funds.

The Stewardship Grant Program assists with stewardship costs for permanently protected conservation
lands in the Great Bay Watershed of New Hampshire. Stewardship activities supported by this grant
program include habitat management, existing trail maintenance, property and project planning, and
natural resource inventory projects. Eligible applicants include the fee owner or conservation easement
holder of an eligible conservation property, including land trusts, municipalities and units of governments.

The Spring 2025 grant recipients include:

  • Town of Exeter, $2,963. Habitat Management, Exeter, NH
  • Moose Mountains Regional Greenways, $2,250, Conservation Planning, Wakefield, NH
  • NH Fish and Game Department, $5,410 Habitat Management, Dover, NH
  • Society for the Protection of NH Forests, $15,000 Trail Maintenance, Portsmouth NH
  • Southeast Land Trust of NH, $7,500. Habitat Management & Conservation Planning, Newfields, NH

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership is a collaboration of conservation organizations in the
coastal region that promotes landscape-scale land conservation and stewardship. Funding for the
Stewardship Grant program is provided by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Great Bay 2030
Initiative. The Nature Conservancy serves as the fiscal agent for the Great Bay Resource Protection
Partnership grant program.

The Great Bay Partnership awards $137,562 for land transaction costs to 11 conservation projects

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announced the Spring 2025 recipients of Land Protection
Transaction Grant Program grant awards. A total of $137,562 in grant funds will support conservation
work on over 1,700 acres of land. The eleven conservation projects provide over $164,000 in matching
funds.

The Land Protection Transaction Grant Program assists land trusts, conservation organizations and
municipal governments in the Coastal watershed of New Hampshire with land protection transaction
costs including appraisal, land survey, legal, title, recording fees, easement baseline documentation and
environmental assessments. The eligible properties are permanently protected through donation or
acquisition of land and conservation easements.

The Spring 2025 grant awards include conservation properties representing a diversity of natural
resources including woodlands, agricultural lands and open fields, important wildlife habitats and water
resources.

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announced the Fall 2024 recipients of Land Protection Transaction Grant Program grant awards. A total of $37,490 in grant funds will support conservation work on 630 acres of land. The six conservation projects provide $74,850 in matching funds.

The Land Protection Transaction Grant Program assists land trusts, conservation organizations and municipal governments in the Coastal watershed of New Hampshire with land protection transaction costs including appraisal, land survey, legal, title, recording fees, easement baseline documentation and environmental assessments.
